On September 7th at a General Legislature Meeting held by Suffolk County, Legislator Sarah Anker had introduced Resolution 1757 and was unanimously approved. The Resolution authorizes Suffolk County to start an appraisal of 21 acres on the old Kmart property that is located in Middle Island, hopefully to turn it into active parkland.
The Kmart property has been part of Brookhaven’s Blight to Light program and has been abandon for about 15 years. Legislator Anker had successfully facilitated an agreement with the current land owners, the Town of Brookhaven and the Longwood Youth Sports Associate.
