The National Park Service will offer a site visit on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 for facilities included in the concession opportunity for Fire Island National Seashore at its Watch Hill and Sailors Haven locations.
Participants are responsible for travel costs to the meeting place, and may also be responsible for transportation costs to Fire Island and back, such as purchasing ferry tickets. Depending upon the level of response, the Service may limit the number of participants per organization. If you are interested in attending this site visit, contact Kathleen Karhnak-Glasby, Business Services Manager via email at Kathleen_Karhnak-Glasby@nps.gov by 4:00 pm on Thursday January 4, 2018, with the names and contact information for those planning to attend. The Service will then provide you with the time and other information for participating.
Watch Hill and Sailors Haven are located within Fire Island National Seashore approximately 6 miles across the bay from Patchogue and Sayville, NY, respectively. There are no paved roads on Fire Island connecting Watch Hill and Sailors Haven to each other. Both locations can be reached via ferry (Davis Park Ferry Company for Watch Hill; Sayville Ferry Company for Sailors Haven), private boat, water taxi or on foot from nearby communities on Fire Island. Ferry terminals are accessible by the Long Island Railroad and car.

PROVIDE A RESOURCE TO FIND THE PERFECT PARK. IN ADDITION to providing a resource for Long Islanders to find the perfect park to visit, we strongly believe that you should also know the history or background of that park. We also strongly believe that everyone should have a part in keeping Long Island natural and beautiful. (We are also 100% positive the world would be a better place if everyone would take a stroll in a park.)
